About Cards Community

An independent library for people who love trading card games.

Cards Community is an independent online library about trading card games. It is built for readers who want to explore card games, cards, expansions, rarities, mechanics and the history of the hobby in one organized place.

What we cover

Our library currently covers three major card games: Pokémon TCG, Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. For each game we write about expansions, individual cards, mechanics and key moments in its history. We also publish collecting guides that apply to any game.

Our mission

Trading card games are easy to enjoy and hard to learn from scratch. Rules are scattered across rulebooks, card pages and forums, and most guides assume you already know the vocabulary. We want to give curious readers one calm place that explains what a card is, where it comes from, how a game's rules fit together and how to look after a collection, in plain language.

Who this site is for

We write for newcomers, returning players and collectors in the United States who want context rather than hype. Some readers want to understand a card they found in a box. Others want to learn how a Pokémon, Magic or Yu-Gi-Oh! turn works before they sit down at a table. The library is organized so both kinds of reader can find what they need quickly.

How we choose what to cover

We start with sets and cards that shaped a game's history or that teach an important idea, such as a first set, a signature character or a card that introduced a mechanic. We prefer depth over volume. Each card, set and mechanic page is meant to answer a question a real reader would ask, and the longer articles go further into how the games work and how to collect with care.

How we keep content accurate

We check facts such as release years, set names, rarity labels and card types against public sources, including publisher announcements, official card databases and established reference sites. Rarity is listed for the featured print only, because other printings of the same card can differ. When a detail depends on the printing, or when we cannot confirm it, we say so or leave it out. Our editorial policy explains the full process, including how to report an error.

How the site works

  • The card explorer lets you search and filter by game, expansion, rarity, card type, period and mechanic.
  • The comparison tool places cards side by side.
  • The My Collection page lets you save cards in your own browser.
  • The timeline shows how the games developed.

What we do not do

We do not publish prices, market values or competitive rankings. We do not reproduce the full text of cards or official rulebooks, and we do not use official card artwork. The card images on this site are original illustrations made for the site.

Independence

Cards Community is an independent editorial project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK, The Pokémon Company, Wizards of the Coast, Hasbro, Konami or any other publisher. All game names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and appear here only to identify the games we write about.
