Why collectors notice it
Fury belongs to a cycle of five Elemental Incarnations, one in each color, so collectors often chase the full group.
It shows how Magic now designs sets for different groups of players. Read more about Modern Horizons 2.
How it works in play
Its evoke option is a clear case of a card giving two quite different uses in one.
Rules and wording change between printings and over time. For official rules, check the publisher's own materials.

Reading this card
The type line is the clue to read first: Creature, Red, Elemental Incarnation. Incarnation is the name of a cycle of five cards, one in each color, so the card belongs to a family. A cycle is a set of cards designed as a group, which makes this page a good place to practice reading a type line for clues. The featured print is a Mythic Rare from Modern Horizons 2.
Two traits are on the chips. Double strike means the creature deals combat damage twice, once before regular damage and once with it. Evoke is the alternate way to cast it. You pay a smaller cost, usually by exiling another card, and the creature is sacrificed right after its arrival effect happens. So one card gives you two uses: a large body that stays, or a one-time effect for a lower price. Whether the lower price is worth it depends on the moment, which is why evoke rewards patient players.
How it compares
Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer is the obvious partner. Both are Red Mythic Rares from the same set and both give you an alternate way to cast. Ragavan's dash keeps a creature coming back to your hand, while Fury's evoke gives you its effect and then sends the creature away.
For the full explanation of the keyword, see the Evoke page. The keyword first appeared in Morningtide in 2008.
Questions readers ask
Is an evoked Fury still a creature?
It does arrive on the battlefield, but it is sacrificed after its arrival effect. Check the printed text for the details.
Do I need all five Incarnations?
No. Some collectors like to complete the cycle, but it is a personal goal. This site does not give prices.
